How to enjoy your holiday as a mum

Being a parent on holiday may not be as relaxing as a vacation once was before children. Gone are the days of you lounging on a sunbed, drinking cocktails, reading a whole book and taking daytime naps in the sunshine and warmth. While you may get to do some of these things, holidays can are far from restful. So how can you make the most of looking and feeling your best on vacation? It is all in the preparation. I wanted to share with you some of the things that you could do.

Eat well

As a mother you need to have a lot of energy to keep up with your little ones on a daily basis, so what you eat can help you do this. We can be too tempted to diet to try and lose a few kilos to “get back in shape” but focusing on a balanced diet could make a big difference to how we look and how we feel. Nourishing our body with what it needs to survive and function.

Take more time to exercise

Being more active and taking exercise can be a great way to look and feel your best, so you may want to take some time to focus on this area. Not all of us have the time to go to a gym each day though, so it could be as simple as playing a game with your children, going out for a nice walk or having some fun at the local park. Focus on raising your heart rate and feel the difference it can make.

Dress for your figure

Your body has done amazing things, so don’t be afraid of embracing your figure. If you have curves, flaunt them. If you have a bigger chest, embrace it. Life's for the living and not worrying about your body shape. If you want to make the most of it, consider dressing for your shape and not just wearing what you think you should be wearing. There is some excellent swimming wear for ladies options out there to cover all body shapes and sizes, so you are bound to find something that works for you. Follow the same principle for other things such as dresses and tops.

Take some time out for you

It is vital that you do manage to get some time out to yourself, to enjoy that cocktail or read that book. So discuss this with your partner ahead of time. Have an hour each to yourself each day where you will take over the parental responsibility of playing with children in the pool or being the one that keeps an eye on them.

Embrace the chaos

Finally, you need to take the time to embrace the chaos that comes with life now that you now that you a mother. It is fun, chaotic, life-changing and amazing, and it can often be the happiness that gives you the perfect glow and energy that resonates with others.

I hope that these tips help you to look and feel your best on vacation.
